This is for sale down the road for my work. A 2000 base model 5 speed 3.8l Cuhmeruh. It’s git some rust, lots of peeling clear coat, and a heavy peppering halt damage. Asking price is 1500, I might offer 1000, if it’s any fun. I just want a ain’t care mobile to thrash on dirt roads. I’m assuming the V6 has an open diff but I have a welder.
Those wheels look nice, but they’re actually hub caps. The only real problem with this car is the “fake it till you make it” nature of a V6 Camaro.

150-2 00 hp wet shot. Fun while it lasts.

Maybe trade for guns and ammo?

I owned the V6 Firebird equivalent, and I can tell you that 200HP doesn’t feel anywhere near as potent in a ~3600+ lb body. Also a lot of little but expensive shit likes to break on these when you least expect and for maximum inconvenience. It’s absolutely a terrible car.
...I can’t wait to get another one.

There are cheaper and less-risky ways to get genital crabs and a spontaneous mullet.

Beater Camaro is the best Camaro. I have the opposite of that and it’s a worrisome drive each time.

Supercharger?

I’ve heard supercharging an NA series 2 is a baaad idea

I am thinking the first mod would be a bummer delete and bash bar replacement

bummer. Some of the newer v6 muscle cars are too tempting for that.

Yeah, and they have 300hp to start with. That’s noting to sneeze at. I’d be happy this a 3.7 Mustang.

If you have the grand to spare, this is a great idea.
And by that I mean it’s probably a bad idea, but I love it.

I don’t really have it “to spare” but I do have it. Lol my wife will not like this idea

do it. pop in a 3.9 g6 motor and have a great start!

If I’m going to swap why not swap in a V8?
![]() 06/28/2018 at 14:32 |

Cause the LZ9 3.9 is much lighter, cheaper, has variable cam so has 250h/250tq all across the range....plus responds like a monster to any little bit of boost.
And it’s different. Not a V8. Folks are doing 10's on lightly breathed ones in F-bodies.

The 200HP 3.8 was far better than the 160HP 3.4 that preceded it and fairly close to the 215HP 5.0 that was in it’s competition. That said, L32 swap.

I imaging the swap isn’t that hard, but finding a supercharger in decent shape might be. I wonder how hard a rebuild is

T-tops are awesome! And the 3.8 is a good engine and 200 hp is plenty

No t tops this one is a hard top sadly

The supercharger inlet is facing the wrong way. You’d be looking at having a custom elbow and intake housing plate welded on. A lot of folks on the V6 boards I used to inhabit looked into it, but only a few managed to pull it off since the inlet problem makes the swap a giant pain in the ass.

I think that would be hilariously fun!
